Neighborhood Slow Zone Program
Speeding on residential streets is a common concern of communities across Philadelphia. Traffic calming solutions, like speed cushions and reduced speed limits, can make streets safer for all residents.
Philly’s most dangerous streets, called the High Injury Network, are often large and busy corridors. But it is also important for the Vision Zero program to enhance safety conditions on residential streets. Families, children, seniors, and people with disabilities can benefit the most from safer residential streets.
No matter your destination, or how you get there, everyone deserves to travel safely.
The Neighborhood Slow Zone Program was announced in 2018. The program works with communities to co-design the traffic calming solutions to address the needs of their neighborhood.
City staff, planners, and engineers work with residents through public Residents also gain a better understanding of engineering decisions and the changes to their streets.
