2025-2030 Action Plan Development

We need your support (yes, you!)  to write a plan that keeps our Vision Zero actions focused on community priorities. The Vision Zero Action Plan 2025-2030 is being updated this year and is set to be completed by October 31, 2025. The Vision Zero team is updating the action items that guide our efforts and set our priorities. Each month this year, we are featuring either a program that advances the goals of the Vision Zero Action Plan or the progress being made on Action Plan development. This month, we are featuring our ongoing Vision Zero roundtables.

We are looking for your feedback on community needs and priorities through surveys and in-person roundtable sessions. Please click below to stay included on Action Plan updates or to express interest in your organization participating in a Vision Zero roundtable session. Your feedback will help us develop new programs that address traffic safety concerns across the city.

#BLACKHISTORYINTRANSPORTATION

We are excited to highlight an individual who has had a profound impact on transportation and her community in Philadelphia as part of Indego’s Black History Month series.

Mrs. Ella Best, a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia, was a strong advocate for safety and health in her community. As president and founder of the nonprofit “Don’t Shoot… I Want A Future,” Ella worked to encourage youth to stay focused on positivity and growth through education and physical activity as a way to avoid crime and violence.

As a community champion and former Indego Community Ambassador, Ella was always happy to share her joy of riding Indego with anyone who would listen. For her, it was about engagement and building connections.

Through her annual bike rides delivering food to those in need, or the memorable “Glow Ride” that went from Point Breeze to Boathouse Row with community members and Indego bikes decorated in colorful lights and glow sticks, Ella worked hard to make sure her community knew that Indego was fun and for them. When asked what her favorite part of bicycling was, Ella answered, “Connecting with the people,” and through those connections, Ella has built a legacy that will live on forever.

After Mrs. Ella’s unfortunate passing in 2019, Indego dedicated the 22nd & Federal Indego station where she led many community rides in her honor.

Applications are open for the 2025-2026 Serve Philadelphia VISTA Corps! Serve Philadelphia VISTAs are AmeriCorps VISTA members serving in departments across the City of Philadelphia. For the past two years, VISTA members have helped build capacity for the Safe Routes Philly program.

The current Safe Routes Philly VISTA, Caroline Robertson, supports the Program Coordinator by expanding outreach to schools and community members to grow Safe Routes Philly’s programming. Some highlights from her service year so far include mornings walking and biking with students, presenting to students about the importance of Vision Zero, and learning firsthand from co-workers about all the ways the Office of Multimodal Planning is working to make traveling around Philadelphia safer for everyone.
